FREA BAKERY
2022
FREA Bakery is FREA’s second location that opened in 2022. Similarly to their restaurant in Torstraße, the founding team are using regional, seasonal and vegan ingredients to create delicious bakery products from sourdough bread to brioche buns with sweet, creamy cocoa butter-oat milk filling. Just like in the restaurant itself, every remaining crumb is composted and delivered to the supplier farms as fertiliser.
Once again, Tŷ Syml were asked to produce custom lampshades for the space. For this project we wanted to explore new ways of developing lighting design, but using our original ALGÂU light as a starting point. These 1m long FREA lights are an interpretation of our original ALGÂU light and have been “stretched” to make an elongated version, which aims to fill the space above the front counter space of the bakery. For this project we developed a new material from seaweed & cellulose waste.
